Chair Yoga Workshop with Alyth McCormack In-Person
Chair yoga is a gentle practice in which postures are performed while seated or with the aid of a chair.
This hour-long guided workshop is open to men and women who find a typical yoga session challenging, anyone recovering from injury, with physical disabilities, or who are pregnant.
Just like a regular yoga practice, Chair yoga increases flexibility, strength and body awareness and can assist with balance issues. Standing poses are included where the chair is used to help and improve balance. ‘Pranayama’ breathing techniques and meditation are also included to promote focus, mental clarity and relaxation.
Alyth has been practising yoga for many years. She is a singer but, during lockdown, used the time to follow her other passion - yoga - and trained as an instructor. She is a registered yoga instructor with Yoga Alliance Professionals and Yoga Alliance.
She believes, “If we practice yoga, even in a seated setting, we can keep our minds and bodies aware and change our energy and focus. Exercise should be for more than just the physically fit. The aim of each class is to maintain our flexibility, calm the mind and improve well-being.”
Clients are seated, wear clothes they can move in freely and can either remove their shoes or leave them on.
Booking is essential as places are limited. If you require additional assistance to participate please contact the library on 0539483820
