Astronomy Week Talk: The Moon- An Unofficial Biography by Dr. Donnacha O'Driscoll

Astronomy Week Talk: The Moon- An Unofficial Biography by Dr. Donnacha O'Driscoll In-Person

To celebrate Astronomy Week, Dr. Donnacha O’Driscoll, scientist and founder of the website themoon.ie, a free to access educational website, will be giving a fascinating talk on the moon. The Earth’s constant companion, the Moon, is ever present and we are all very familiar with the sight of it in the sky but few of us really know very much about it. What is it? Where did it come from? Why does it seem to vary so much in the sky? How does it affect life on Earth? Will we really walk on it again this decade? These and many other questions will be answered in a clear visual manner free of technical jargon. The Moon has been part of all our lives, shouldn’t you get to know it a little better?

Dr. Donnacha O’Driscoll is a scientist by profession. He is a committee member of the Irish Astronomical Society where he leads the Lunar Observatory Group. He set up the website  themoon.ie which is a free to access educational website that deals with all aspects of the Moon. He lectures regularly to children and adults on Astronomy and the Moon.
