Wexford Science Café: Science Books – gifts that keep on giving In-Person
Conversation on recent publications at Wexford Science Café, Tuesday, 12 December, 7.30pm, Wexford Town Library
At this time of year, book recommendations are especially welcome. Our December meeting will hear about some recently published books on science-related topics. Selected books will be presented, with comments, for our attention.
Books to be presented/reviewed will include:
- To Boldly Go Where No Book Has Gone Before, by Luke O’Neill (presented by AMacL)
- Ultra-Processed People – why do we all eat stuff that isn’t food … and why can’t we stop?, by Chris van Tulleken (GMacG)
- Metabolical – the truth about processed food and how it poisons people and the planet, by Robert Lustig (PM)
- Beautiful Experiments – an illustrated history of experimental science, by Philip Ball (BT)
Books to be mentioned as worth our attention will include:
- The Song Of The Cell, by Siddhartha Mukherjee
- Free Agents – how evolution gave us free will, by Kevin Mitchell
We will also offer a snapshot of the science books currently on sale in Wexford bookshops and those available for loan in Wexford Town Library.
Anyone attending the meeting is welcome to bring along a relevant book they are currently reading, or have recently read, and tell us about it. Equally, if you are curious about a science book and want to know others’ views of it, you can also bring that up.
Booking is essential.
