The Piping Tradition of Co. Wexford with Mark Redmond (Piper) In-Person

Gorey native Mark Redmond, will cover the history of the renowned players of the uilleann pipes throughout County Wexford since the 1700's and Mark will include pertinent musical samples on an array of uilleann pipes during the lecture.

Mark Redmond continues the musical tradition of the Uilleann Pipes and is an expert musician and piper in the traditional sense but engages with a wide range of diverse musical genres. Mark currently lectures in Irish Traditional Music at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and Technological University Dublin. Mark has played with the National Symphony and RTE Concert Orchestras and played at many historic occasions such as the Papal Mass in 2018, the State Visit of Queen Elizabeth II to Ireland in 2011 and toured with Riverdance, Celtic Woman and performed with diverse artists such as Christy Moore, Imelda May and Donal Lunny.
