This visual presentation will explore the creation of the Chanie mosaics and the incredible stories behind the shipwreck pottery. Fragments from shipwrecks from 150 years ago were collected on local beaches by Rosslare native Ann Borg who collected pieces from age 7 years -70 years. The Chanie’s draw together fascinating historical threads in Wexford’s history including the Wexford whale, the shipwrecks off Tuskar, the pottery factory in Stratford and the ships destination which was North Carolina. 

Helen McLean originally from Holywood, County Down established her studio in Wexford Town over 22 years ago. Working as an artist for over 35 years Helen has created large scale paintings, mosaic and glass public artworks throughout the UK, America and Ireland. Over the last ten years Helen has installed 12 mosaic artworks throughout Wexford town and in surrounding towns and villages throughout Ireland.
