This wasn't a strike. It was a Lockout! - Wexford Lockout 1911/1912 with Local Historian Helen Corish

This wasn't a strike. It was a Lockout! - Wexford Lockout 1911/1912 with Local Historian Helen Corish In-Person

This was a turbulent and most significant time in Irish history. One hundred and thirteen years ago, approximately 700 foundry workers in Wexford Town were "locked out” by their employers, for seeking the right to join the union of their choice, The Irish Transport and General Workers Union. For almost six months they suffered undue hardship and deprivation in their struggle for social justice.  The courage and determination of the workers, their families, supporters and leaders during the Lockout, culminated in a victory for the foundry workers.

Join local historian Helen Corish for a fascinating insight into the Wexford Lockout
