This presentation will look at the difference between Irish and Scottish Dance music, instrumentation, and arrangements. This will be illustrated by Mick Foster and Moyra Fraser playing both live examples and recordings. They will also sing some songs, and Mick will talk about the piano accordion in traditional Irish music circles.

Mick Foster is one half of the international duo Foster and Allen and has toured extensively playing piano accordion in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA, South Africa and Europe. Mick has been attending All Ireland Fleadhs since Gorey in 1962. A member of the Frank Gavigan Branch CCE, Mick with Moyra Fraser can be found playing at sessions in the local Rathconrath Pub, Gunnings.

Moyra Fraser started playing music at the age of eight. She is a multi-instrumentalist playing not only piano accordion, piano but also flute, clarinet and saxophone. Moyra is the keyboard player and Musical Director of the International duo Foster and Allen, has produced various radio shows in Scotland and was the Musical Director of an extremely popular television show called “Sing Something…” She also composed the theme music for the TV series.

Moyra is proud to be the secretary of her local Comhaltas Branch “The Frank Gavigan Branch” and during Covid she published a book of tunes made popular by the late Frank Gavigan
