Film Screening of The Sea by John Banville. In-Person
As part of our Banville at 80 programme and Reading John Banville series, join us for a screening of The Sea. Screenplay: John Banville and Directed by Stephen Brown.
Featuring: Ciaran Hinds, Natascha McElhone, Rufus Sewell, Sinéad Cusack, Charlotte Rampling.
This will be followed by a group discussion led by Dr Eoghan Smith. ‘Transformed utterly’: The Sea (2005)
The Sea won the Booker Prize for John Banville in 2005. Set in a fictionalised Wexford, it explores with tender humanity haunting themes of memory, love, time and mortality.
