Heritage Week: The Lost Mound of Clorane with archaeologist Ronan O'Flaherty In-Person
Join us for Heritage Week with Archaeologist Ronan O’Flaherty, who tells the story behind the rediscovery of the great Bronze Age burial mound of Clorane on Forth Mountain, Co. Wexford. First recorded in 1840, the mound mysteriously vanished from the landscape and public memory alike. However, with the help of a Heritage Council grant, it has since been rediscovered and analysed, shining new light in the process on the Bronze Age landscape of Forth Mountain.
Ronan O'Flaherty is a specialist heritage advisor with Crane Bag Consulting. He holds a PhD in Archaeology from UCD and is a former CEO of the Discovery Programme. He has lectured and published extensively and was co-editor with Jacqui Hynes of Vinegar Hill – Last Stand of the Rebels of 1798 (Four Courts Press: 2021). He is a member of the Royal Society of Antiquaries of Ireland, Wexford Historical Society, the Barntown Heritage Group and EXARC (the international association for experimental archaeology).
Booking is essential.
